I just overheard this exchange between a father and son in the waiting room of a doctor’s office.
___
Father: “Why are we here?”
Son: “To get help for your Alzheimer’s dad.”
Father: “What do you mean? What is she going to do to me?”
Son: “She’s going to help you.”
Father: “Are you going to go back there with me?”
Son: “I’m gonna sit here in this waiting room and wait for you.”
Father: “I’m scared. I want you to go, too.”

One of the saddest parts of life, I think, is that role reversal between a parent and a child.
